Kabbalah

18. Is it necessary to know Hebrew in order to study or understand the Kabbalah?

Today it is possible for those who know little or no Hebrew to study a variety of introductory works on Kabbalah and translations of a number of important texts in English and other languages. Careful study of reliable works may provide serious students with a grasp of underlying Kabbalistic concepts and teachings that can deepen their understanding of the fundamentals of belief and help strengthen their faith in God.

The Kabbalistic worldview and idea system are rooted in the Hebrew Bible, Talmud and Midrash, and they are inextricably bound up with the Hebrew words and language in which they are expressed. Advanced study and depth understanding of the Kabbalah require familiarity with Hebrew.
