Comfort for the sick
A crisis is one of life's requirements… With stout hearts, with tremendous zeal, (we need) carry on in the very center of the combat. One should, before retiring and on arising, visualize divine rays of serenity permeating his being. He should see himself, with the eye of the imagination, in a perfectly serene state…confronting different problems and facing obstacles with equanimity and peace.
True patience means that a person has confidence in God's goodness. …you must not lose patience if…the recovery is slow, if the restoration requires a long process… Despondency and impatience are the greatest assistants to the forces of sickness… when they are coupled with other ailments; they aggravate the condition and greatly retard recuperation. Patience is the virtue that enables man to endure with a quiet mind the unpleasantness and disfavors of life… It implies a profound faith in the ultimate good of existence.
Difficulties stimulate self-expression. Difficulties call forth the finer and deeper faculties of man. (Courage) is the weapon with which we overcome opposition. The faith that there is an invisible partner cooperating with me in whatever I do yields me courage. Courage is a divine gift that enables us to overcome fear… Faith in God…is given as an antidote to fear. This faith must be genuine… When you pray for health, you are reaching out directly to the Source of health.
To fill yourself with the consciousness of God's presence is the first step in achieving self-healing. The moment you know that God is with you…then a part of your burden has been removed, a part of the weight has been lifted from your heart…you must affirm the Divine Presence…you must realize that there is a power within you that makes for healing… thus invoke His goodness, invoke His aid, through prayer. We should not ask healing to flow through us; we should see it flowing through us… It is true that healing is a mystery, just as health is a mystery…but the heart of this mystery is God.
